WHAT’S NEXT

Live push comes later.

An optional addition for your iPhone. Direct access to Nagios already stands on its own.

Live push is planned for a later release. There is currently no need to set up a NagWatch push relay. This page describes the intended approach, rather than installation instructions for a released service.

What is planned

An optional connector on your Nagios server is intended to send events to a push relay. The relay would forward them through the Apple Push Notification Service to paired iPhones, even when NagWatch is not open.

Privacy in the design

The plan is to encrypt the host, service and plugin output on the Nagios server. The key would be shared between server and iPhone through QR pairing. The relay is not intended to receive Nagios credentials or read encrypted details.

The apps stay independent

The iPhone overview, hosts, services and administrative actions connect directly to Nagios. The Mac app monitors your servers directly and generates local notifications while running. Neither app needs a push connector for these features.

Before release

Setup instructions, availability, terms and privacy details will be published before the service launches. There is no release date yet.
