An optional connector and an encrypted push relay are planned for a later release. Direct Nagios access and the Mac app work independently of this service.
Is the Mac widget always visible?
Status counts stay in the macOS menu bar while NagWatch is running. Click to see open problems and actions. NagWatch keeps your Dock clear. The menu bar widget is included in the free Mac app.
Do I need a NagWatch account?
No. Enter the HTTPS address of your Nagios installation and your login for that server. Username and password are stored in each device’s Keychain.
Do I need to install anything on my server?
Direct access requires no NagWatch connector. Your Nagios web interface must provide the supported JSON endpoints and be reachable over HTTPS.
Does it work on a company network or VPN?
Yes. If your iPhone or Mac can reach your Nagios address over LAN, Wi-Fi or VPN, the app connects directly to that address.
Do servers and passwords sync between devices?
No. Set up your installations separately on iPhone and Mac. Credentials do not sync through iCloud. Your Pro purchase works on both devices with the same Apple Account.
When will I receive notifications?
On Mac, new problems can trigger local notifications while NagWatch is running. iOS may run occasional background checks; the system controls their timing. Live push for iPhone is planned for later.
Can I connect Nagios XI, Icinga or Checkmk?
Nagios Core 4.5.14 and 4.4.6, and Nagios XI 2026R2 through its included Core CGI gateway, have been verified. XI REST and browser SSO are not supported. Icinga, Checkmk and other products require separate adapters. See the verified compatibility scope.
